Barking & Dagenham Has Improved - Its official
What a year 2008 is turning out for Barking and Dagenham. Today it has been announced that Barking & Dagenham Council has won the Most Improved Council of the Year Award at the Government Chronicle Awards 2008. These awards are the Local Government equivalent of the Oscars and LBBD’s Chief Executive Rob Whiteman and the Leader of the Council, Cllr Charles Fairbrass are absolutely delighted for everyone that has contributed to this success.
This news is hot on the foot of the latest VAT figures from the Office of National Statistics which show that the VAT stock of businesses in the Borough rose 8.9% to 2,825 in 2006. This is well in excess of the growth of 4.9% for London and 4.2% across the British Isles.
Together I think these successes show that Barking & Dagenham is well on its way to becoming the number one place for business.
