Transport

Rail

Barking Town Centre to Fenchurch Street in the City of London takes just 15 minutes by the C2C overground train, while via Underground, Canary Wharf is 20 minutes away and Westminster 40 minutes.

St Pancras International (for Eurostar) is 30 minutes away, and both Paddington (for Heathrow) and Victoria (for Gatwick) can be reached in approximately 40 minutes. Rail connections link Dagenham Dock to Fenchurch Street, and Chadwell Heath to Liverpool Street.

Crossrail will add fresh links to west and central London. The London Crossrail service will run from Maidenhead, Berkshire, in the west via Heathrow to Chadwell Heath, and is due to open in 2017.

Barking & Dagenham Enterprise also supports the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham in pressing for a Docklands Light Railway extension through Gallions Reach to Barking Creek.

Road

Barking & Dagenham’s trunk road network offers easy access in all directions: an upgraded A13 links employers with east and central London (including Docklands), as well as with the M25 and Channel Tunnel; the A406 links with the A12 and M11 to East Anglia.

There is a good bus service throughout the borough, with most people living within 400 yards of a bus stop.

By road London City Airport is a mere five miles away, Stansted 30 miles away via the M11 Motorway, and Heathrow 27 miles away from Barking via the A406 North Circular Road.
