Rail
Barking Town Centre to Fenchurch Street in the City of London takes 15 minutes by the C2C overground train, while via Underground Canary Wharf is 20 minutes away, and Westminster about 40 minutes. St Pancras International (for Eurostar) is 30 minutes away, Paddington (for Heathrow) 40 minutes, and Victoria (for Gatwick) can be reached in approx. 40 minutes.
Crossrail will add fresh links to west and central London. Work starts on the London Crossrail service, due to open 2017, from Maidenhead, Berkshire, in the west via Heathrow to Chadwell Heath. Barking & Dagenham Enterprise also supports the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham in pressing for a Docklands Light Railway extension through Gallions Reach to Barking Creek.
Rail connections link Dagenham Dock to Fenchurch Street, and Chadwell Heath to Liverpool Street
Road
By road London City Airport is five miles away, Stansted 30 miles away via the M11 Motorway, and Heathrow 27 miles away from Barking via the A406 North Circular Road.
Barking & Dagenham’s trunk road network offers easy access in all directions: an upgraded A13 links employers with east and central London (including Docklands), as well as with the M25 and Channel Tunnel; the A406 links with the A12 and M11 to East Anglia.
There is a good bus and rail service throughout the community, where most people live within 400 yards of a bus stop. The District Line of the London Underground serves four more stations in the borough east of Barking to Dagenham East.
