Crime
Local crime rates have increased only marginally in the last five years, and in comparison with other London boroughs are not particularly high. In the six months to June 2007, crime fell by 13.9%, more than twice the London average of 6%.
Residential burglary dropped dramatically by more than 40%, while robbery fell by 17.8% and motor vehicle crime by 11.5%. Between 2001 and 2007, police numbers rose by 154 to 427. In the 12 months to September, crime fell in four of the 16 Metropolitan Police categories, and remained level in a fifth. (Source: Metropolitan Police, LBBD)
