The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) project is a proactive business outreach service which provides free unbiased business health checks to develop business growth and profitability. It signposts businesses to a comprehensive range of business support services in order to
overcome barriers to growth.
The aim of the project is to encourage businesses to take up business support and promote the spirit of enterprise amongst the business community in the borough. From January 2007 to date, 980 businesses have been engaged and 280 have been signposted to appropriate business support providers. This achievement was clearly reflected in the borough business survey in 2009 indicating that the take up of business support had increased from a meagre 4% to 19%. It has been possible through successful team working with a range of business support projects, internal council departments and banks in the borough.
