How to enter the awards

Last year was our most successful ever by going online and we would like to beat the number of entries this year.

But before you do that, check that you have all of the information you need. Read this useful tick list.

1. Read through the categories and decide which you want to apply for you can nominate yourself for more than one category, submitting separate application forms online for each one).
2. Ensure that you have covered each point that the judges are looking for which is clearly outlined next to each award. The judges will use these criteria to mark your entry.
3. You have space for 750 words online to show how you meet the criteria. You should provide facts and figures and examples rather than general statements. You may want to include references or testimonials from customers.
4. If you want to send leaflets or additional information with your entry we will
   accept up to two pieces of extra literature. All you have to do is post it or deliver by hand to:

   All applications must be with us no later than 5pm on Wednesday, 11 May 2011. No late entries will be accepted.

   What happens next?

   • You will receive an acknowledgement that your nomination has been received, by email if you have given us your email address.
   • Your business details may be forwarded to the press for possible inclusion in a feature about the awards, please make sure you complete that part of the form if you would like your information to be passed on.
   • You will be contacted if the judges require more information or want to visit your business.
   • If you are contacted by the judges you will need to be available on the time they stipulate.
   • If you are allocated a ticket for the awards ceremony, we will contact you.
   • The shortlisted businesses will be announced before the Awards Ceremony.
   • There will be a number of shortlisted companies in each category.
   • Some of the shortlisted companies will be photographed or filmed for the awards presentations.
   • The Barking & Dagenham Business Awards Ceremony will be on Tuesday, 5th July 2011 at the Broadway Theatre, Barking
   • The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.

   Rules of Entry

   1. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Wednesday, 11th May 2011. No late entries will be accepted.
   2. Companies entering must be registered within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
   3. Entries and accompanying materials will not be returned.
   4. Online and all other entry forms and any accompanying documents must be submitted by an authorised representative of the company. Online forms should be sent from the company representative’s email address.
   5. All those who enter the awards agree to abide by the rules of the competition.
   6. Places at the awards ceremony are restricted because of space and not everyone entering for the awards will be able to attend.
   7. Shortlisted companies will be allocated two tickets per company.
   8. The decision of the judges is final.
   9. The judges and organisers will not enter into any correspondence
   10. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
   11. By entering the competition, the entrants may be required to feature in publicity before and after the competition.
   12. Entries will be forwarded to the 2011 London Business Awards
