The BDE Team
Barking & Dagenham Enterprise has a private sector-led board whose chairman is Chris Oliver, Managing Director of AJC Wilson Bodyshop, Dagenham.
Judy Chapman
Executive Director
Judy is a borough champion for business and enterprise. She works to raise the profile of the borough as a place in which to start, run or expand a business. As Executive Director of Barking & Dagenham Enterprise, Judy leads on the delivery of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) programme and BDE’s 21 LEGI projects. Judy is BDE’s link with the BDE Board and with stakeholders that include the Barking & Dagenham Council, the Chamber of Chamber of Commerce, and other business agencies as well as the funding departments of Government.
Paul Bishop
Enterprise Champion
Paul is BDE’s Enterprise Champion, a role in which he directs efforts towards creating an enterprise culture throughout Barking & Dagenham. Paul works closely with local community groups, supports all BDE projects, and is leading in the promotion of Barking & Dagenham’s first-ever Business Awards.
Mamta Patel
Programme Manager
Mamta sets up and maintains programme management and monitoring systems, and regularly reports to the BDE Board on performance. She works closely with the business support and business centres capital projects, and ensures that links are made with the projects and that their activities fit the overall strategy for BDE. Mamta also assists the Executive Director in business planning and with developing BDE strategy proposals.
Tom Mabey
Programme Manager
Tom’s work involves budgetary and other management of BDE – linked enterprise and business – related projects. He also researches potential new projects for funding and ensures funding targets are met. Tom manages funding of education and enterprise activities with Robert Clack School and the University of East London. Tom also assists the Executive Director in business planning and with developing BDE strategy proposals.
Karthik Durgaprasad
Business Relationship Manager
Karthik is one of BDE’s two business relationship managers who works closely with established enterprises in Barking & Dagenham, providing them with access to a wide range of free specialist advice. Jeff and Karthik operate through an extensive network of public and private sector organisations, make referrals, and provide information on business issues to help BDE and partners shape future services.
Magali Kazayi
Marketing Executive
Magali devises and implements marketing and communications plans in support of BDE’s strategic aims. These include promoting the BDE brand, projects funded through the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI), and Barking & Dagenham as a good place for business.
Dalene Renders
Administrator
Dalene provides administrative and secretarial support to BDE’s Executive Director and the other six team members. She ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office, and arranges Board and internal BDE meetings.
